Wayku is known as the capital of the Kichwa Lamista community, rich in cultural heritage.Guillermina’s home is a grotto for ceramics, showcasing her exquisite creations.

  • Activity: Make Your Own Ceramic Bowl Learn the basics of ceramic crafting under Guillermina’s guidance. Create a simple bowl to take home as a unique souvenir.
  • Lunch: Traditional Meal

Enjoy Caldo de Gallina (chicken soup made with fresh farm chicken) or a vegetarian option featuring local ingredients.
Savor the flavors of the region in a cozy atmosphere.

  • Afternoon: Artisan Exploration
  • Visit Artisan Shops:  Stroll through vibrant artisan shops in Wayku, where you can purchase handmade crafts and souvenirs.
  • Weaving Course with Ermina: Participate in a workshop with Ermina, a skilled weaver who shares her knowledge of traditional iconography and techniques. Create a small woven piece as a keepsake from your experience.
  • Treat: Ice Cream or Coffee in Lamas Town. Enjoy a refreshing ice cream or a cup of coffee in Lamas, known for its lively atmosphere and beautiful surroundings.
  • Optional: Visit to the Castle.  If time permits, take a brief tour of the local castle. I’m not a fan but if you must. 
  • Return to Tarapoto

After a day filled with culture, creativity, and delicious food, we’ll head back to Tarapoto, reflecting on a truly enriching experience.
