Our tour will take you first to the viewpoint , protected area Cordillera Escalera and then to the enchanting point where the Añakiwi River meets the Cumbaza River, guided by the talented visionary artist Trina. This adventure is perfect for those who love hiking, exploring, and expressing their artistic side. Discover the rich rock pigments along the river, collect unique colors, and enjoy an immersive painting session in a local studio. Choose between a one-day whirlwind tour or a more relaxed two-day adventure.
Morning: Hiking and Pigment Collection
- Collection: 8am: A moto taxi will pick you up from your hotel and bring you to the village of San Roque de Cumbaza.
- Hiking: Start the hike towards Sachaqa Centro De Arte’s studio with Trina, who will give a quick demonstration of natural pigments.
- Mountain Ascent: Hike to the top of the mountain to enjoy stunning views of the protected Cordillera Escalera area.
- River Relaxation: Reach the point where Añakiwi meets the Cumbaza river. Relax, swim, and enjoy the natural pools.
- Sketching time: You can bring your own sketch book and we also provide paper. Start to sketch ideas or write down your thoughts.
- Picnic Snack: Bring a snack and we can share.
- Pigment Discovery: Explore a special spot where the river runs with ion oxide. Trina will introduce various rock pigments, and you’ll collect different colors while learning about their natural origins.
Afternoon: Creative Studio Session
- Lunch: Arrive in San Roque and walk to folklorica for lunch
- Rest at the River Cumbaza: Collect more pigments and we can start to paint.
- Creative Time: Trina, will show you how to prepare your pigments and we can sketch and paint in your sketch book.
- Art, Sharing, Coffee and cake at Donde Segunda: Discussion of your artwork, share your experiences with the artists of Sachaqa and enjoy your cake.
