Chazuta: Ceramics + HotSprings

Creative: Ceramics

Chazuta is a small port town of the Huallaga River. Visit local artisans where you can purchase local products: Chocolate, Soap, ecological paper and clothing with sown iconography.

The ceramic tradition of the Indigenous Chazutino culture is passed down through the generations. Their pottery is crafted with local clay and natural pigments, and often fired in open pits or large clay ovens. The designs are influenced by pre-Inka patterns, featuring geometric motifs, spiritual symbols, and natural elements.
After visiting the Wasichay Ceramics Museum, you can either build a small pot using coils of clay or paint a pre-made pot with traditional symbols. The artisans will teach you how to paint using brushes made with human hair.
